During and after the event you will also have the opportunity to purchase the artwork. All proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Red Cross. This contribution will assist in the humanitarian efforts underway addressing the catastrophe that soars upon the Japanese population.

As a response to the earthquake and subsequent humanitarian catastrophe that shattered the north-eastern coast of Japan the photo exhibition invites you to take time to reminisce and reflect on current happenings. The exhibit features 10 never before seen photographs of tranquility in Japan taken by photographer Nikolas Konstantin (3rd year European Studies student) in 2010. The photographs shot in the cultural bastions of Nara and Kyoto are portraits of calm, harmony with nature and and the beauty of Japan that the world has known before this tragedy .

Following the dictionary definition of the word respire: to breath freely again after anxiety. The Japanese translation Shinkokyu (深呼吸) is a combination of the words deep and breath, and is especially used in times of stress and anxiety. Affording one escape from a situation with shinkokyu: a deep breath.
